Research
Infectious Diseases among Cultured and Wild Fish Populations

We employ a laboratory-based approach to better understand the effects of infectious diseases on both cultured and wild populations of fish and shellfish. Highly collaborative studies with field biologists/pathologists provide the context for addressing needs relevant to the success of our aquatic resources. Recent research has focused on whirling disease and infectious hematopoietic necrosis (IHN) in salmonid fish and herpesvirus infections in a range of fish hosts including salmonids, sturgeon and cyprinids.
